Yoplait Whips – the best yogurt on the market!

I am not a really big yogurt eater; but when it comes to Yoplaint Whips – I have to admit that it is my favorite so decided to write an honest Yoplait whips review from my point of view. I love the texture, the flavor, and the taste. I love the texture – the way it feels when I eat it. It is like ice cream melting in your mouth. I really enjoy eating this product. The one thing that I dislike about the product is: when it is in my lunchbox for an extended period of time – the whipped texture kind of fades away. It doesn’t taste the same as when you first take it out of the refrigerator. Regardless of this one fault – I Love this product. I buy this product about 95% of the time. The only other yogurt that I purchase is the Muller Fruit Yogurt. I do wish that there was a larger selection of the whipped yogurts. There are not as many flavors as the regular yogurts. I really can not eat an entire container of regular yogurt; but the whips I could eat two at a time. An excellent choice. It is convenient, packed in recycle-able containers, and delictable.

Overall, it’s a great tasting product with the consistency of mousse (both flavors, not just the chocolate mousse).  It’s also not bad for you, like many great tasting snacks are.  Give it a try; I think you’ll like it.

There is a rule of thumb when it comes to food that what tastes good is seldom good for you.  I am extremely fortunate enough to have recently found two products that violate this rule: Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars (see review) and now Yoplait Whips!.  I tried two flavors (chocolate mousse and dulce de leche), and I absolutely loved both of them.  They’re relatively inexpensive, too.  They cost $0.54 each at Super 1 Foods.

Because of its thick, creamy texture, Greek yogurt can be substituted for other fats in baked goods. Swap cream cheese, oil, butter, sour cream or mayonnaise with yogurt to cut calories and boost the protein content of your favorite desserts. Greek yogurt can also be part of savory dishes. For instance, you might top a burrito with a dollop of yogurt instead of sour cream or mix it up with seasonings to make a vegetable dip.

Greek yogurt is a low-carb dieter’s dream with only 5 to 8 grams of carbohydrates per serving. Plain, regular yogurt has double or triple the number of carbohydrates. Keep in mind, however, that flavored yogurts have added sugar and fruit, which will increase the carb count significantly.

Greek yogurt typically contains only half the sodium or salt as the regular variety. A high sodium diet can cause hypertension and may increase your risk of developing heart disease. Greek yogurt has approximately 50 milligrams per 6-ounce serving, Therefore, Greek yogurt does not exceed the American Medical Association’s recommended total daily limit of 1.5 grams per day. However, you should consult your health care provider if you are on a low-sodium diet to make sure yogurt is acceptable.

A single 6-ounce serving has between 15 and 20 grams of protein compared to the 9 grams in a serving of regular yogurt. They both come in a several flavorful fruity choices. Both YoPlus products have added fiber and both prebiotic and probitotic bacteria to activate smooth digestion so they are probiotic yogurt. Yoplait Whips are tubs of yogurt with air whipped into a light product that is incredibly fluffy. Yoplait insists that all of the yogurt products made by their company have a substantial amount of vitamin D in every serving.

Yoplait Greek promotes the health aspect of their product, advertising the high levels of calcium, vitamin D, and protein, especially for their kid’s products, as well as claiming their product can help with weight loss. However, their website does admit to using aspartame (artificial sweetener), carmine (red coloring), gelatin, and milk protein concentrate in their Yoplait Greek Parfait cups.  There are no organic options available.  In 2012, General Mills spent over $1 million to oppose GMO labeling in California.
